Percona Installation

rpm -Uhv http://www.percona.com/downloads/percona-release/percona-release-0.0-1.x86_64.rpm

yum install Percona-Server-client-55 Percona-Server-server-55


1.) Stop mysql:
service mysql stop

2.) Start to Percona server w/o password:
mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables &

3.) Connect to mysql server using mysql client:
mysql -u root

4.) Setup new MySQL root user password:

mysql> use mysql;
mysql> update user set password=PASSWORD("NEW-ROOT-PASSWORD") where User='root';
mysql> flush privileges;
mysql> quit


5.) Stop MySQL Server:
service mysql stop

5.) Start MySQL server and test it
service mysql start
